Get Started

Practical learning for parents and carers who want to help children get the good parts of technology while responding calmly to online risks. Start with your child’s age, interests and needs. You do not need to be a technical expert.

What you will practise

  • Use age-appropriate conversations rather than a single set of rules for every child.
  • Recognise grooming, bullying and other worrying contact and find the right help.
  • Review privacy, parental controls, gaming, purchases and subscriptions together.
  • Build realistic routines around screen use, sleep and family life.
  • Talk about misleading content, AI tools and information children should keep private.

Turn a lesson into one useful action

Choose a small task after each lesson: start a conversation, review one setting together or agree a help-seeking plan. Avoid collecting real passwords, images or personal information as course work.

If a child discloses a concern, listen and seek suitable help. Do not screenshot, save or forward nude or sexual images of a child. The lessons signpost specialist reporting and support where needed.
